Romsey Old Oak Tree And The Art It Inspired

Finding My Old Oak Tree

An old oak tree is such a striking, enchanting thing in my eyes and this may sound bizarre, but I have been on the look out for a long time for tree with a really interesting outline to photograph. Lone trees, without too much fussy stuff in the background are quite difficult to find/get close enough to photograph. We stumbled across this one when we were on a cold, wet walk with our children in Romsey, Hampshire. There are lots of lovely little walks, with other great views, you can do around this area and further along the Test Way, so check it out if you are in the area.

Digital Art

The Twitter art challenge #colour_collective posts a different colour each week for artists to use as a focus for their work and a few weeks ago the colour was a lovely deep green. I think the simple structure and bold lines of the old Romsey tree lends itself perfectly to a piece of two tone digital art, so I thought I would use the picture I had taken, plus the #colour_collective colour of the week, to create this image.

There are other arty projects I still want to do with this image so I will let you know how I get on. If you feel inspired by this tree to get all arty please share with us – I’d love to see your creations!
