The Rabbitswood Project provides an opportunity for enquiry based learning for those of you who look at the world and ask why? how? what?…etc!
Incase you didn’t know, a lot of my books are set in Rabbitswood, which is loosely based on the local fairy house woods. These magical woods have everything; nature, creativity and the fairies live a life which is a quirky reflection of our own lives. So with this fantasy world as inspiration, I think the possibilities for enquiry based tasks are endless.
As an author and the creator of Rabbitswood I have found that I am forever coming up with new ideas or questions that I want to explore further. I literally have a massive list of things that I want to investigate and that list is crying out for an army of enquiring minds to investigate all these unanswered questions. Just like Tutoring With A Twist, The Rabbitswood Project flips the standard model of teaching and learning on it’s head and rather than starting with thinking about our learning objectives and outcomes it starts with the fun bit and lets children take that in whatever direction they want to.
Locally we have an amazing Home School network of families who are total pros at exactly this style of learning and I am very privileged to be going along to one of their groups tomorrow to kick of the first ever Rabbitswood Project. I’ll keep my blog updated with how we get on.
